The Sandpiper of the surf

Aphriza virgata Size: Between 23 and 25 cm Its name comes from the fact that it looks for its food on the shore struck by the waves: it waits for the last moment to take off before the wave hits to land just when the wave starts again. It is a migratory bird between the Pacific coast of Peru, Ecuador and Antarctica.
