Mutuy (Senna birostris)

The mut'uy is a shrub about 2 meters high that can be observed from Ecuador to Chile, at altitudes between 2600 and 3600 meters. The roots of this plant are used by the women of the Andean villages to make yellow dye and its wood is used by men to make tools for agriculture. The leaves rubbed on the skin can be used to treat herpes.
