The Choquequirao Trek

One of the most beautiful archaeological sites in the region of Cusco. Choquequirao is another Machu-Picchu just as magnificent but preserved from mass tourism because accessible exclusively after a hike of several days. A pretty visit to discover Peru out of the beaten paths.

Day by day

day 1: Departure day to the Choquequirao trekking.
go towards the Apurimac valley in a semi tropical ambiance, full of papayes and bananes plantations. Start the hike from Cachora village.

Start the trek by a flat path next to the Padreyoc glacier, the heat will start to be felt during the descent to Chiquisca village. Crossing the Apurimac River by Playa Rosalina bridge. The walk will intensify and start the ascent to the village of Santa Rosa where set down the first camp.

Lunch and dinner included.

Night in tent.

day 2: The Choquequirao trekking
Climbing to the archeological site, during this hike it is possible to see some hummingbirds and orchids.

In the afternoon. visit the Choquequiraoi inca site, was re discovered in the 80's by a French/Péruvian team.

Lunch included.

Night in camp. next to Choquequirao.

Night in tent.

day 3: The Choquequirao trekking
Start with the sunrising on the terraces of the site. Then go down to the river and go accross by noon.

The afternoon, hiking up to the Chiquisca village.

day 4: End day of the Choquequirao trekking
Going up to Cachora village, Arrival about noon.

Coming back by bus to Cusco from Cachora.
