Day by day

day 1: Departure day to the Ausangat trekking / First hiking day
Departure from Cusco along the Vilcanota valley.

First stop in Checacupe and time to visit de colonial church.

Following the road into the Pitumarca Valley then the amazing Japura canyon.

Arrival to Chillca. the trek begins. Short trek to reach the first lodge in Chillcatambo. (14337 ft)

Once arrived, a group of neighbouring community comes to offers an andean music concert.

Walking time: 2 hours.

day 2: Trekking between Chillca and Machuracay
Hiking on the wide valley of Pampa Uyuni, it offers a magnificent view to the surrounding glaciers, going close to many water falls coming down from the surrounding glaciers and crossing some lamas and alpacas herds populating the area.

Arrival in Machuracay Tambo (15764 ft), in the Ausangate foot.

Walking time: about 6 hours.

Positive altitude difference: 640 m. / 2095 ft.

Negative altitude difference: 200 m. / 656 ft.

day 3: Trekking between Machuracay and Anantapata.
The hardest day of the trek. Climbing up to Palomichayoc pass, over 16732 ft. above the sea level. with a 360ª view to the Ausangate massif.

Down to the lac Ausangantecocha which offers a gorgeous view to the glaciers of south facade of the Ausangate summit. Continue to Anantapata (15420 ft.), the third night in lodge place.

Walking time: about 6h30.

Steps: Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu Anantapata
day 4: Trekking between Antanapata and Huampococha.
This is the most spectacular day of the journey. The path will lead to many rock formations of colorful layers: red, yellow, blue, gray and ochre, making an unique landscape in addition to its sthetic shape, this area keeps also some vicuñas herds.

Following the way to reach the Huampococha Lodge (15814 ft).

Walking time: about 7 hours..

Positive altitude difference: 550 m / 1805 ft.

Negative altitude difference: 400 m / 1312 ft.

Night in Lodge.

Steps: Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu Huampococha
day 5: Last day trekking and back to Cusco.
After our last climb to Anta pass, descent to the Valley. The view change approaching to the village.

Crossing also a "rocky forest", with natural sculptures shapes. it is a zone to discover the "Vizcachas" cute animals of the Chinchillas. Arrival to Congomire, the end of journey.

Back to Cusco by bus.
