Waqrapukara

Still largely out of the beaten paths, very far from the tourist crowds, Waqrapukara is the site of an ancient pre-Inca fortress then conquered by the Incas. From the top of its 4300 meters of altitude, it rests on a rocky spur and watches over the Apurimac valley south of Cusco. Just the walk to reach it is worthwhile to go there.
