Vilcashuaman and Vischongo

“Vilcashuaman” means Sacred Falcon in Quechua. This ancient city was an important crossing point of Incas road between the coastline ant toward the Northern Andes (Ecuador), as well as a major administrative and religious center. The small church of the site was built on ruins of a temple dedicated to the Sun, with three superposed terraces and stands. This one was probably splendid during the great period of the Incas, but the most important part  of the visit is  the stone pyramid with 5 levels, called Ushno, that is surmounted by a double stone throne of the Inca, to which the access is available thanks to a gigantic staircase. From Vischongo village, in a pleasant environment that is interspersed with fig trees and eucalyptus, and lined up along the river, small traditional farms are scattered and different options are offered to you for a walk: towards the hot springs, the Inca baths or also in the direction of a forest of gigantic cactus.
