The cathedral

The cathedral has been built during the same year of the definitive installation of Piura city in 1588. The most impressive of this church is the cedar altarpiece on the lateral altar that is dedicated to the Virgen of Fatima. It was done in 1650, and it is well-decorated also with gold. It is easy to see here the artists’ necessity to impress the other contemporaneous artists.
