The retables are typical from Ayacucho; they are madeof painted wood, and are generally compounded of floral patterns, red and lue,with different scenes inside (characters made of “papier-mâché” or of arnishedpotato past). It represents daily activities in the city and in the campaign, nativity scenes… Originally, there were religious only, because they were diffused by Jesuits in order to teach the Christian religion. Today, the Ayacuchanos made it their property and recalled it “cajones de San Marco”.
