Cahuachi

These ruins from about 1000 years ago are located in the middle of the desert, and represent the most important center of Nazca until today. In reality, this is a religious center: the presence of pyramids, in particular makes you think that this place served to gather thousands of religious persons, and that it was a very important pilgrim center in the Nazca culture. Apart from being a cemetery, the presence of the mysterious site of Estqueria is a topic of discussion as well as speculations about its nature and exact function: observatory, minor ceremonial center, processing of deceased persons, storage… There also are some mummies out of their tombs and placed into the original pits of 2 m deep with their long and braided hair surrounded by offerings for the Gods.
