Tipon

This really surprising archaeological site is located at 22 km from Cusco, in the direction of Puno. There, numerous terraces have been installed, and connected by rudimentary stairs and water goes through ducts skillfully organized to reduce the flow velocity, and to water the plants on the terraces. In this kind of protected amphitheater, the Inca achieved to reproduce very different ecosystems at each level; the stones store heat of the sun during the day to restitute it at night and so, reproduce the climate of an Amazonian jungle for example. Beyond the terraces, rests of a storage for agricultural products, a temple and an entire water system have been discovered.
