It is an archaeological museum, which is located at 45 km from Pisco that has ruins and also a cemetery. In Quechuan language, “tampu” means “rest”, and the Spanish word “Colorado” refers to the bright colors of those edifices made with dry land (adobe). It must have been built during the reign of the Inca Pachacutec, and they are ruins of a fortified city with a very strategic geographical localization. There are also storage remains, administrative and military offices, etc.
