Tumbes

At the northern end of the country, Tumbes is the last city before the passage to Ecuador. The proximity to the equator (the line) implies a very hot climate; but the proximity of the rivers, and the rare beaches of the country where one can really swim. Different ecosystems coexist in the surroundings of Tumbes: dry tropical, wetter tropical, desert, beach... Biodiversity is important, and you can even visit some crocodile farms! In addition, the remains of the ancient pre-Inca city on which the current city was built can be visited, on the edge of the famous Pan-American Highway.
