San-Francisco Church

The construction of this impressive edifice achieved in 1674. In this construction, the Muslim baroque style, Moorish, is evident. Its façade made of hand-cut stone and its forecourt populated by a lot of pigeons makes it seem to be the Saint Mark Square in Venice. This church is very important because of its library, which own very old texts; particularly texts about the arrival of conquistadors and the period of the Spanish conquest. Some manuscripts are true humanity treasures; statues of Saints and martyrs conserved in the sacristy are also an important center of interest. Finally, what makes San Francisco famous is the presence of catacombs: more than 25 000 mysterious bones rests, can be seen all along dark tunnels in the bowels of the earth.
