Kuelap

This is the most amazing and stunning Inca site apart from Machu Picchu. This fortified city with oval-shape owns very beautiful Inca symbols like its greatness and conservation. At 3080 m altitude, the panoramic view of the surrounding plains is amazing. Everything is made to inspire admiration and mystery: a massive rampart of 30 m high, 3 funnel doors, 400 edifices gathered into 3 floors (often circular), friezes in zigzag, and watch towers or bas-reliefs in geometrical shapes. But the most intriguing is still the underground room that has the shape of an inversed cone. There, the archaeologists found rests of sacrifice, which leads us to believe that above all, the site was a religious place. All around, there is luxuriant vegetation, with a surprising diversity of orchids, which gives the impression of being in another planet.
