Incahuasi

From the Quechua “the house of the Inca”, this is an essential step of the Salar’s visit. Also called “island of the fisherman”, in reference to its twin sister the “fish island”, there also are gigantic cactus, and it is also surrounded by stretches of hexagonal salt. The prepared ways allow to easily climb to its top in order to observe the immensity of the Salar. Apart from cactus, the island is also populated by viscachas, kind of Andean rabbits, family of chinchillas. Moreover, the recent opening of a coffee-restaurant allows to lunch in an extraordinary landscape. The island of Incahuasi is also wrongly called “Fish Island”. On a map (or Google Earth), it is located in the center of the Salar, with only one top on its center.
